The story follows the O'Connor family, a close-knit Irish family living in Queens, New York. In 1917, the United States enters the war, and the O'Connor boys, Patrick and Michael, are quick to enlist.

Patrick is a skilled boxer and a natural leader. Michael is a quiet and thoughtful boy, but he is just as determined to fight for his country.

The boys are sent to France, where they are plunged into the brutal reality of war. They witness firsthand the horrors of trench warfare and the devastating effects of battle.

But even in the midst of such darkness, the O'Connor boys find hope and strength in their love for each other and their family.

Back in Queens, their mother, Bridget, anxiously awaits news from her sons. She prays for their safety and worries about what the future holds.

As the war rages on, the O'Connor family is tested in ways they never imagined. They must endure the unimaginable pain of loss, but they also find strength and hope in the unexpected places.

So Much Owed is a moving and unforgettable story that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.
